Tools of the Trade
We made it to the end.
We sampled Ancient Age, Fighting Cock, Wild Turkey 81, Jameson, and Maker’s Mark.
I assigned them all a numbered rating between 79 and 86.
And as much as I like Fighting Cock, it’s a pain in the ass to find where I live and the high proof makes it a bit tough to sip neat.
So that means I’m left thinking:
Which of these cheap whiskies will I be sipping for the next 30 years?
The answer is:
Jameson.
Jim was right when he said:
Jameson might be the *perfect* under-$20 whiskey. I can’t think of any other whiskey at this price that I’d drink happily.
I honestly wasn’t thinking I’d pick ONE awesome whiskey under $20. And let’s face it, Fighting Cock and Wild Turkey 81 have their merits. But if an Angel came down from the heavens and granted me as much free whiskey as I wanted as long as it cost less than $20 a bottle… I’d choose Jameson.
And now I know that.
Cheers!
