Sorry for the lack luster week. I caught a either a really nasty cold or a really tame flu bug. Anyway, to try to make it up to you all, I’m going crazy with posts this week! Mainly: recipes! I promised cocktails featuring Domaine de Canton, so here we go!
This cocktail really features the ginger flavor as the centerpiece. Everything else is to help get the sweet/spicy balance to tip down just a touch from OMG GINGER SPICE!
The Blood Orchid
- 1 ounce Gin (floral or neutral recommended; Aviation, Spirit Works, Plymouth)
- 2 ounces Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur
- 1 ounce cranberry juice (sweetened cranberry “cocktail”)
- 1 drop Vanilla Extract
Add ice to a Boston Shaker. Add all the ingredients. Shake until your hands feel like they’re going to freeze off.
Strain into a chilled cocktail/martini glass.
Garnish with orange peel.
Enjoy!
You can smell and taste the ginger prominently in this cocktail. It’s not overly sweet, just enough to tame some of the ginger.
Next up, a variation of this that dials down the spice a bit…
